Best Horror Movies On Netflix That You Shouldn’t Watch Alone

As much as I like horror movies, It is tough to find the ones that are actually good, especially on Netflix. The reason is that their horror genre-specific collection is often limited to low-budget movies.

However, there are some great movies to find if you dig a little. As I am so much into horror and mystery, I am going to save you some time and energy by sharing some of the best horror movies on Netflix.

The Babadook

A low-budget yet incredible horror movie that will keep you uneasy throughout with a feeling of dreadfulness. The Babadook’s plot has a single mother and her child and an eerie book that turns up at their house and soon the sinister presence starts to dawn on them. This movie has an IMDB rating of 6.8/10 which is good for a horror movie.

Under The Shadow

This is the first foreign-language Middle-Eastern horror movie that enjoyed a lot. The sense of mystery and supernatural presence is what makes horror movies worth watching and Under the Shadow is one such movie. Set in war-torn Iran where a mother and daughter experience a mysterious evil entity that starts to hunt their home, this movie has an IMDB rating of 6.8/10.

His House

A refugee couple makes it out of war-torn Sudan in search of a better life only to encounter a night witch that is lurking in their new home on the outskirts of London. This movie brings some more than generic possession horror while highlighting some of the issues faced by refugees. With a 6.5/10 IMDB score, this movie is at number three in our pick of best horror movies on Netflix.

Evil Dead ( 2013)

One of the goriest horror movies I have seen and an admirable remake of The Evil Dead (1981). With the gruesome horror vibe, this movie’s plot has 5 friends that head to a cabin and find a Book of the Dead to accidentally summon demons living in the woods. Some people might still prefer the original but this remake has its own notable horrified charm that sets it apart. It has an IMDB rating of 6.5/10.

The Ritual

The story revolves around a group of friends who embark on a hiking trip into the wilderness of Sweden. As their journey continues they lose track in the woods, the story turns dark with a sinister presence that stalks them. The movie has an IMDB rating of 6.3 and has the suspenseful vibe that fans of the horror genre are always seeking.

Creep

As the name suggests, this movie is definitely going to creep you out. I won’t say you will not be able to sleep after watching it but there is something uneasy about this documentary style movie that makes it one of the best horror movies on Netflix. If you like the horror/thrill genre, this one is highly recommended.

Veronica

Veronica a teenage girl plays Ouija with her friends and gets into demonic trouble when she fears that the ghost spirits want to hurt her siblings. With hallucinations, horrific visions, and violent incidents the movie keeps the viewer nail-biting throughout. This movie has a decent IMDB rating of 6.2/10.

Ouija: Origin of Evil

Better than most films that follow the same storyline of using the Ouija Board to summon demons. The story follows a mother and two daughters living in 1967 Los Angeles. The mother makes money by connecting people to the spirits of their dead loved ones. The family soon becomes a victim of horror when things get out of control. This movie has an IMDB score of 6.2/10 and is great to watch because of its simple yet effective story.

The Pope’s Exorcist

The title of the movie may keep you thinking that it’s just another possession horror, when this is true for the most part there is a spin to it that makes it an excellent movie. The story follows the Vatican’s leading exorcist who investigates the possession of a child while uncovering some secrets of the Vatican. The politics at play inside the church’s circle give the movie an added spin. This movie has an IMDB rating of 6.1/10.

The Devil on Trail

If you want to watch something fresh and new this best horror movie/documentary will be a good choice to watch. This summoning documentary is for you. When you watch this it’s like watching a horror documentary and horror movie at the same time. This masterpiece uses reenactments and home videos to investigate the possession of a boy leading to cruel murder. It has an IMDB rating of 5.6 and for the first time, it think people were not so generous while rating this documentary.

That’s all for now, but if you want to continue hunting for horror movies, we suggest reading our article that goes beyond Netflix and lists one of the Best Horror Movies Of All Time That Will Send Chills Down Your Spine.
