This year’s Grammys came with some happy surprises as Miley Cyrus won her first Grammy Record of the Year award for “Flowers”. But a few things were predictable: Taylor bagged her 4th Album of the Year award, well deserved as “Midnights” was a worldwide phenomenon.
Another good thing that happened this year was Taylor Swift’s announcement of her brand new album “ Tortured Poets Department”. This happened when she was giving her winning speed. For winning Best Pop Vocal Album. She thanked her fans and shared the news of the new album saying “I am telling you the news that I kept for the last 2 years which is that my brand new album comes out April 19”. She further added, “ I am gonna post the cover backstage.”
Taylor has always given her fans the best music and we are anticipating something even greater with “ Tortured Poets Department.” This album will have 16 tracklists two of which feature legendary artists.
Post Malone features in the song “Fortnight” and Florance + The Machine in the song “ Florida.”
Now some fans are speculating that this album might be for Taylor’s ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn because it’s her first album after she broke up with Joe.
Given the history of the artist’s past relationships and the song she wrote about them, we can not deny this speculation. Joe and Taylor broke up around April 2023.
Oh, wait, their breakup news also first appeared in April of 2023, a coincidence? Or it is an album written for Joe? Well, it was reported in April 2023 that the couple broke up a few weeks ago, so we can’t confirm it was actually April, but who knows?
Also, Taylor never does something random or spontaneous with her albums because there is always a story, that’s what we like about her work, so have you noticed “I Love You, It’s Ruining My Life” on the cover that she posted?
Here is a Glimpse of the Tracklist:

Now that I’ve seen the tracklist, I can relate to so many things that might hint towards Alwyn. For example, the name of the album might itself be a hint towards Joe and Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott’s Whatsapp group “ The Tortured Man Club”, which they revealed in 2022.
The song titles also hint toward their relationship as So Long, London is said to be about their relationship in 2019 as the song London Boy highlights the peak of their romance.
The Songs Loml can also be about their romance but I Can Fix Him ( No really I Can) and But Dady I Love Him is definitely about the last period of their relationship.
Also, Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me and Smallesr Man Who Ever Lived may highlight the reason behind their breakup which was said to be the personality difference that made Swift realize that they are not compatible in the long run.
Other Tracks also have some hints according to the fans. The song Fresh Out the Slammer and Florida can be pointing toward the time six months after her breakup and her first performance.
Lastly, Clara Bow is a nod to Joe’s Pseudonym, William Bowery which he used while working with Talyor on their album “ Folklore.”
You can preorder the song on Swift’s Website. The 16-track album will come with a bonus song “ The Manuscript” for CD, Vinyl, and cassette editions. You can also grab a 24-page book-bound jacket with three lyrics (handwritten) and exclusive photos.
